9 Spices Salmon (Baked or Grilled)

God I love salmon! There is something so comforting knowing I'm eating a healthy, nutritious piece of meat/fish/protein, and salmon always fits the bill (when we make it). We don't lather it up with tons of oils or nasty things like butter because, well, salmon already has a wonderful healthy oiliness to it, so why bother?

Most of the time I like to just toss on a little bit of cajun seasoning and black pepper with lemon, but this time we mixed it up a bit. This was also paired with my famous Asparagus Risotto. Mmm! To find out what makes this one special, you'll have to follow us after the jump. Enjoy!

Grilled Hot Turkey Patties

When you make so much Asparagus Risotto that you have 3 meals worth, yet you've eaten up the other sides (aka the salmon) that originally went with it, you run into the problem - or opportunity - of what else to eat with it. This was our problortunity the other night.

Since the risotto is on the creamier, less salty side, we turned our attention to spices and seasonings. But which to use? How about all of them! Seriously, we used every seasoning we had except for garlic powder. Don't worry though (I know you were getting worried) because they're used in such small amounts that it makes it flavorful without being like "OMG, are you trying to kill me?"

I really hope you enjoy this as much as we did (even though it came out drier than expected) because I made this up just off the top of my head without any help from our dear friend the internet. Enjoy!

Asparagus Risotto

It has been 3 years (since last week) that my girlfriend and I have been together. In accordance, I wanted to make her a special dinner, complete with white wine and a little bit of fun. One of the dishes I prepared (and that came out the best) was Asparagus Risotto.

During the cooking process the sauce turns into a creamy, not-too-rich-but-just-rich-enough flavor that had us coming back for more and more. I made so much of it too, that it's lasted us three whole meals.

The only change I am going to make to it next time is to eliminate the cheese since it didn't add much flavor or texture, and besides, I'm not a huge cheese fan anyway. It was delicious, though, and I encourage everyone to try this out. I've also included several substitutions if you don't have all the ingredients on hand. Enjoy!

Buttermilk Pie

Southern Buttermilk Pie, I do declare. A more surprisingly delicious pie you will not have. Soft, moist, reminds-you-of-custard/creme brulee-and-a-little-bit-of-home-even-though-you've-never-had-it-before goodness, all while instilling a sense of zomg deep within your mortal soul.

Now you're probably thinking "Buttermilk? Aint that the bitterest kind of milk there is? How's that gonna get good? Or even pie good? You tell me that!" Fine. I'll tell you. The secret is...
